CPDRC Dance Routines

March 28, 2009

So, I think that we’re all very much aware of the YouTube clip showing the inmates of the Filipino CPDRC doing the ‘Thriller’ Dance:

However, I had no idea that they’d also done two songs from Sister Act, “Jump” by The Pointer Sisters and also Bonnie Tyler’s ‘Holding Out For A Hero’ (amongst many others!)

‘Sister Act – Hail Holy Queen’

‘Sister Act – I Will Follow Him’

“The Pointer Sisters – Jump’

‘Bonnie Langford – Holding Out For A Hero’

I bet Arlene Phillips was spitting feathers… :P

More4 Pub Quiz Trailer

March 28, 2009

Haha – fabulous!

I’m wondering though as to how much coercing that it took to get them to agree to it, or whether they were the ones who were gunning for the chance to drag up… hehe! :P

Playing For Change

March 28, 2009

Just came across the below videos and thought that I’d share:

‘Stand By Me’

‘One Love’

There is also a cracking version of Tracy Chapman’s ‘Talking ‘Bout A Revolution’ on their website too (alas not on YouTube yet!)

It is so uplifting and really well made – well done to all involved!

I really like the pun with the name of the movement too – ‘Playing For Change’. #

Their website, www.playingforchange.com is well worth a visit in my opinion!

Mauro Picotto – Komono

March 25, 2009

Crumbs… YouTube just recommended a video to me which has just taken be back around 7 years!

Although released in 2000, I first got into Mauro Picotto’s music a year or so later and seeing my first ’serious’ fella (it was around this time that I also got into Scooter, Gigi D’Agostino, DJ Bobo – ugh! – etc). It was also back in the day when I could dance around without feeling like a burke and used to own the podiums in Essential (a huge gay club in Manchester) and the cages in Cruz 101 heh!

Anyway, a blast from the past, and just thought that I’d share!

Heaven’s Cry – ‘Till Tears Do Us Part

March 25, 2009

So, whilst I’m at it… I thought I’d share with you all one of my favourite tracks of all time.

Heaven’s Cry – ‘Till Tears Do Us Part (especially the ‘Flash Harry Remix’ – as below)

My partner at the time and I were absolutely obsessed with this track though it was so ellusive to find! When we were out clubbing in Essential nighclub (Manchester), we’d occasionally hear snippets of the track, but due to it’s obscurity we simply couldn’t find info on it anywhere! We didn’t even know the artist / track name!

One night, we decided f*ck it, and went to the DJ box to request it, though we had to stand there and shout along to the tune for him as obviously it’s not the wordiest of songs hehe!! To save us further embarassment, he gave us the track details, and with much digging and importing a CD from abroad, we managed to obtain a copy of the track.

It remains one of my favourite tracks to this day, though never really seems to get played anywhere anymore unfortunately.

Spring Awakening – Novello Theatre

March 22, 2009

For my review of the show, please click HERE.

Just a quick note to let readers know that I was also present for the first night at the Novello.

sa-moritzThe show is exactly the same as at the Hammersmith Lyric, though Totally F*cked actually got a two minute roof-raising cheer when they’d finished – I’ve never seen anything like it!

If you’ve not already booked in to see this awesome show, DO SO NOW!

The Rules of Attraction (2002)

March 22, 2009

Over the years, I have seen The Rules Of Attraction a couple of times now… it’s not bad, not great, however the one scene that I really love (and I would go so far to say that it’s one of my favourite scenes of ‘all time’) is this one:

And yes… scenes such as this are also classed as ‘normal’ in our house (owing more to me, than to Mister Greg hehe!) ;-)

The music used throughout this film is fantastic, so I’m currently hunting out the soundtrack to the film!

As I say, it’s not a bad film, certainly memorable, however it doesn’t really move anywhere and is a little brainless in my opinion – so it is perfect for crashing out on a Saturday afternoon to perhaps.

Kung Fu Panda (2008)

March 20, 2009

kung-fu-panda

Now I must say, I’d avoided this film like the plague for ages as I thought that it was going to be absolutely rubbish (Dreamworks doing Kung Fu… Jack Black…trailer making it look like a cheesy kids film… didn’t really bode well in my opinion!) – however I watched it last night and have to say, I rather enjoyed it!

I thought that it was rather well made, had a nice story and the visuals / whole ancient China thing worked really well I thought.

I especially liked the closing titles and the work that they did on those (with particular enjoyment coming from the re-worked ‘Kung Fu Fighting!’ track).

I’d definitely recommend it if you’re looking for something fun and light–hearted to watch!

I soooo want to be part of the ‘Five’… but moreover, if given a choice,  I would simply HAVE to be the ‘baddy’, Tai Lung, hehe!
