Bullets for the weekend

March 30, 2008

Rar,

It’s been a while and so I thought I’d make a quick blog to let folk know what I’ve recently been up to :o D

Going for another bullet point blog as I have a few things going on and not much time to post unfortunately…

  • Had my annual salary review – woo!
  • Stu came over and spent from Friday evening until Sunday lunchtime at mine – yay!
  • I made Asparagus and Pancetta Pasta for Stu on Friday night  which seemed to go down well (we went to Tesco after work for the ingredients, which was fun, though they didn’t sell pancetta so we had to make do with gammon pieces instead).
  • We had SingStar mania going on at my place this weekend with Stu and I both battling at Singstar Rock Ballads and Singstar Anthems (which was really good for me, as I am normally very shy and won’t sing in front of people… so took a lot of courage for me to do this – yay!). Needless to say, Stu was far better than I was, though I am pleased to find that I am able to comfortably open up around him like this, yay!
  • On Saturday we went to Camden High Street and had a look around all of the markets and whatnot. My opinion of the place is that it’s very much like it’s a convention of big issue sellers… that said, it was a good touristy experience for me, and so I’m glad that I ventured down there.
  • After Camden we headed down to Barnes Bridge in Surrey to catch the Oxford – Cambridge boat race. Unfortunately we managed to miss it passing us by mere minutes, meh! We had a walk back from Barnes Bridge to Hammersmith which was quite pleasant despite the weather.
  • Once back at mine, we decided to have a pizza, ice-cream and DVD night, so we went and joined the local Blockbuster video store, choosing to rent the SingStar Anthems game, and then we raided Sainsbury’s for pizza and Haagen Dazs Strawberry Cheesecake ice-cream hehe.
  • This morning (Sunday) was glorious weather and I was sorely tempted to have a poke around the French Market that’s cropped up outside East Finchley tube. However after dropping Stu off at the tube, I was quite keen to get back and watch The Celebrity Apprentice final (USA) which I’d downloaded hehe. Hopefully the market will still be there when I get home from work this week!
  • Stu and I have also planned a day trip to my home town of Manchester for Saturday April 19th, which I am REALLY excited about!

So yeah, quite a few points there!

As I say, in the time frame that I have available to me, this was the best way to present the information – apologies to anyone who thinks that these things should only ever be written as a piece of continuous prose hehe!

With a bit of luck I’ll be in a position to blog further and in more detail as the week goes on :o D

Hope that everyone’s OK, and thanks for reading xx

A Domestic Goddess

March 25, 2008

Yes folks, you read that right, I am feeling like a domestic goddess!

I was up at 7am paying bills online and sorting out other bill-related things before work. I then came home from work, popped straight to Sainsbury’s to pick up some bread and sandwich fillers so that I can take toast for breakfast and sandwiches and an apple for lunch to work tomorrow. Once home, I set about cooking myself a nice meal (which is rare, as I never normally cook for myself), did all of the washing up, and decided to plan and iron my outfit for tomorrow so that it’s there when I wake up. I’ve just gotten out of the shower (see picture below… and NO! it’s not THAT sort of picture hehe) and am snuggled in bed watching Skins and then Stargate Atlantis. I should be in bed by 23:00 – 23:30. Tomorrow evening I will tidy up and hoover as well as make packed lunch again etc.

I know the above may all seem like normal to most folk, but for me this is something that I’ve not yet done in London… I think I’m starting to settle! I only used to be this  housewifey when in Manchester and so I think that finally my circumstances feel right, I’m feeling happy again, and thus the wall between London and I is starting to come down. It’s only taken 9 months hehe.

Ooooh wait.. it’s official!…after hearing about my new role as “Domesticated Goddess to the stars”, celebrity housewife Ms. Anthea Turner just called me up on the telephone, she’s shitting herself apparantly! I told her that I may be domesticated but she can clean her own fear by-product away! Filthy bitch! :o P

Just came cross this cool retro Natwest advert, figured I’d post it as I rather like it!

Shower Pic – How misty do I need to make the bathroom?!?! hehe

How misty?!

B Boy Baby – The ‘Oxford Song’

March 24, 2008

It seems that I managed to forget to include what I am now calling my ‘Oxford Song’  in my previous post.

Mutya Buena feat. Amy Winehouse – B Boy Baby

Thus named as the ‘Oxford Song’ as it was played on the jukebox at The Castle Tavern whilst Stu and I were enjoying our magners and a bit of banter :o

I had thought that this was a brand new song, so was very surprised to find that this song was released back on 31st December 2007 and only made it to number 73 on the UK’s Top 75 singles charts… though in Macedonia it did make number 7! I am usually rather well up on my music and so I am surprised that I didn’t even know of it until the other day, the publicity campaign for this song must have been non-existent / awful!

Even so, I love this song and it’s not been off my media player since Friday!!

A Stu-pendous trip to Oxford

March 23, 2008

Rar,

Just back from Oxford and so I figured that I’d blog about my trip and the fab time that I had hehe.

Although we didn’t go to Oxford until the Friday (21st March), I was lucky enough to get to see Stu on Thursday as I had managed to secure us tickets to see a fantastic play called God of Carnage, currently playing at the Gielgud Theatre and starring, amongst a very highly talented but small cast, Ralph Fiennes. I cannot recommend this play highly enough – go see it!!

As per our plans, Stu came back to mine after the show and stayed over so that we could get a good head start for Oxford in the morning, We managed to get out of the house for a respectable 10am and caught the bus down to Finsbury Park tube station, and then the Victoria Line to Victoria station so as to be able to catch the Oxford Tube service up to, surprisingly(!), Oxford.

We nipped into Pret a Manger to grab a snack and I was dismayed to find they don’t serve soup until noon, so I made do with a rather nice sandwich instead.  I decided to go on a picture taking rampage and so here are a few that we took on-board the coach…  (NB – click on the thumbnails to enlarge)

The bloke in the background of the second picture looked very uncomfortable when Stu and I were snuggling up or having a quick kiss, so it was hilarious to see his face when we got off the coach. Basically, I loosened Stu’s belt at the start of the coach trip as a joke (nothing rude… honest! hehe) and Stu forgot all about it, so when he stood up, his pants fell down hehe! At the same time Stu exclaimed “I’d forgotten you undid my belt!” and the man behind us looked like he was about to spit feathers hehe!!! :o PWe also discovered that Stu has boobies…

We made very good time getting into Oxford and encountered no traffic, which was fab.Once we got into Oxford, we went for Ice Cream at a local shop. My accent got in the way though as when I ordered a bananarama ice cream, I ended up with an Americano coffee… hmm!!! They were very apologetic when I pointed out the misunderstanding, though I did apologise on behalf of my accent and my cold/flu-affected voice hehe.

Ice Cream - Oxford

Whilst Mr Stu went to the toilets, I decided to see what it would be like if I became Stu… hehe!!…

Gsri - Oxford

After ice cream, we headed across the road to have a quick look around the gardens of Christ Church, which were fantastic. Mr Stu even gave me a piggy back bless him!!!

Christchurch - Oxford  Christchurch - Oxford  Stu - Oxford  Christchurch - Oxford  Christchurch - Oxford

After Christchurch, we went and explored some of the rest of the city and took in some more of the marvelous architecture…

Architecture - Oxford  Architecture - Oxford  Architecture - Oxford  Architecture - Oxford  Architecture - Oxford

I also discovered a really really old door set into the middle of a non-descript wall that had a doorbell on it, which was very random! Needless to say, I had to try and ring… hehe (apologies for the stupid facial expression!)

Gari - Oxford

Stu had an excellent idea and proposed that we went ice skating – which was fabulous!! I’ve been wanting to go all year, and Oxford have their own ice rink which is not only of decent quality, but also very well priced (£6 for the whole 2 hour public skating session). We did try to take a few pictures however we got told off as I hadn’t registered my camera with the front desk, and once they had pointed out the TINY sign in the very corner of the rink, we decided it would be too much fuss to go fill our paperwork and that we’d much rather continue skating anyway hehe.

Ice Skating - Oxford  Ice Skating - Oxford  Ice Skating - Oxford    Ice Skating - Oxford

After the ice skating, we headed over to Oxford Castle to have a poke around. We were very lucky and managed to squeeze on the last tour around the place and it was quite cool to have a look around the place. The stairs in the main tower were SO steep!!! As we were on a tour, I only managed to take one picture from the top of the tower. Still, at least it’s a very nice picture! :o

Stu - Oxford

By the time we’d finished at the castle, it was raining really heavily! We were hungry for some tea and so we decided to head to Gormet Burger Kitchen to stuff ourselves on burgers – which were indeed VERY yummy!!

After we’d finished eating it was about 6pm and so we decided to head across to Oxford’s ‘gay scene’… which consisted of two pubs, both seen in the below picture…

Gays in Oxford

We stayed in The Castle Tavern for the evening (pub at front of picture), though it was a little bit dead… (bear in mind we were there until about 9pm on a Friday night, and there are only TWO gay pubs in Oxford)…

Gays in Oxford

Stu also managed to inadvertendly show off his best fisting poses on two occasions….

Gays in Oxford  Gays in Oxford

LOL!!!

It was at this point that we were happily sipping on Magners, having a really nice chat and both wishing that I wasn’t going to have to head back to London shortly (Stu was staying in Oxford to visit family for the holidays) that Stu came up with a classic quote! I was mentioning about how much I like Barcelona in Spain, and I enquired as to whether Stu had ever been at all… to which he replied, “I’ve never travelled outside of Europe, so no!” DOH! hehe!!! Bless him, he very quickly realised his blooper and I have decided he looks very cute when embarrassed hehe!!

At 9pm we decided that it was a good time for me to head back so that I would be able to catch the underground and whatnot when I got back to London. It was rather sad to leave Stu behind in Oxford, but after having him to myself for over 24 hours, who am I to complain too much?! hehe. I had a REALLY good time in Oxford with Stu and am really looking forward to seeing him again.

I’ve saved the sweetest bit of this whole adventure until last though.Whilst we were out in Oxford, Stu pulled me into a shop and purchased me an Easter Egg so that I had one that I’d not bought myself hehe. All together now… AWWWWW :o

So, now Stu and I both have Myrtle Moo’s for Easter hehe. They’re very cute and I don’t know if I’ll be able to eat mine… hehe!!

Myrtle Moo

So yeah, a fabulous time has been had in Oxford and I can’t wait to get to see Mr Stu again!! I have a suggestion or two to make, and so we’ll see what happens there… :o D

Happy Easter all, and thanks for reading! xx

Bunnies Just Wanna Have Fun!

March 23, 2008

So, as per my earlier post, I have become obsessed with Rayman Raving Rabbids!

I finally caved in and purchased a copy of the game which I’ve spent most of the weekend  playing on. Below is a YouTube clip of me playing on “Bunnies Just Wanna Have Fun” which is my absolute favourite of the mini-games that I have encountered thus far (and the mini-game that prompted my obsession!!). This is also the first ever YouTube clip that I have created and posted – woooo me!

I’ll have a Big…

March 20, 2008

… Mac meal please.

Cashier : A what?

Mr Gari : A Big Mac meal please.

Cashier : Sorry? A What?

Mr Gari : A Big Mac meal please.

Cashier: Sorry, I don’t know what one of those is but we don’t sell those here, we’re Burger King.

GAH!!!I knew full well where I was too, I was just thinking how much better I was than the people currently eating in MacDonalds as I was paying an extra £1 for my meal and getting the benefit of “fresh” “goodness” hehe! (note my double usage of quotation marks there – is that even grammatically legal?!).  It all ended well though, as she giggled at me, coyly slipped a few sachets of sauce into my sack and winked at me. Bless!

And anyways, I’m sure we’ve ALL done it before… right?!  (sincerely hopes that he genuinely isn’t alone in being a complete fucktard and doing this cliché…! :o P )

Grrr!!!

FUCKING TOURISTS!!!!!

 Nuff said! xx

So, I finally did it…

March 19, 2008

… I finally caved in and gave up hope. Last night, I went and purchased Easter eggs for myself  *sob!*

On the plus side, I now have two Cadbury’s Cremé Eggs all to myself! (and with Sainsbury’s retailing them at two for one – which works out at £1.00 each for medium sized eggs…well!) Therefore I think that I will spend the Easter weekend devouring these whilst snuggling under the duvet and playing on PS2.

Last night it was decided that I’m off to Oxford on Friday, which I am really looking forward to. Just a day trip mind, but it’s a chance to get outside of the M25 and to explore pastures new and whatnot – plus it’s with Stu, so yer know, woo! :o P You might even say that I’m somewhat excited! :o D

Someone showed me a picture of something called Superlambbanana which have been popping up all around Liverpool as part of them being the European Capital for Culture this year.

So, not to dissimilar to the fantastic (and much better) Cow Parade that we had in Manchester a few years ago…. hmmm….. :o P

I’d Do Anything…

March 19, 2008

So, it would seem that the latest musical theatre reality-casting show has finally hit our Saturday night BBC TV screens!

I’d Do Anything reunites Andrew Lloyd Webber and the creative team behind Any Dream Will Do and How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? in the nationwide search for a Nancy and 3 Olivers to play on the West End stage in a new production of Oliver! (which sees Andrew Lloyd Webber and Cameron Mackintosh reunite for the first time in 21 years). For anyone interested, the theatre is strongly rumoured to be the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane as Lord Of The Rings has just posted early closure having only played there for a year.

The format remains the same, though we only get to choose the Nancy; Lloyd-Webber and Mackintosh are choosing the Olivers directly (the auditions did look somewhat like they were grooming them though to be honest!!). In twelve weeks time, we will hopefully have a new West End starlet and no doubt the crowds will flock to see them in this show - both The Sound of Music and Joseph have enjoyed phenomenal success thus far, which the producers will no doubt be hoping to replicate once again.

I was slightly disappointed by the first episode, which covered the auditions, as it all seemed rather hurried and of a slightly tired format. I have been looking forward to this show for months now, as I am an avid musical theatre geek, and Andrew Lloyd Webber is pretty much like God to me hehe. I am hoping that the live shows help me to engage with the contestants a little more and pull me into the show.

I saw the below logo today, which I thought made the whole show look sordid and seedy hehe…

… would you?! Yikes! (though in fairness, John Barrowman is rather hot for an older man!)

I am also missing the chance to perv on the hot boys, such as the ones that we had in Any Dream Will Do last year, and so I felt the urge to post this lovely picture of former contestant Ben James-Ellis, who is currently doing very well for himself in Hairsprayat the Shaftesbury Theatre.

 Ben James-Ellis

But seriously…. PHWOAR!!! :o P

Next year it’ll be the turn of the lads again - my money’s on them casting for Jesus Christ Superstar (with the show title of either “Jesus Christ Superstar?” or just “Superstar?”). Time will tell as to whether or not I’ve guessed right – though if they pick this show next year, it means we’ll get to see some more muscles! Woo! :o P

Returning back to I’d Do Anything, I think that I’ve seen potential in one or two of the contestants, though I don’t think I’ll be able to pick who I want to win until we get to the live shows, simply as the editing on the auditions is far too fast. No doubt I will review each show and so feel free to subscribe for updates via RSS or email (links on the right).

Thanks for reading xx

A lovely lazy weekend

March 16, 2008

With regards to my weekend, I think that the title of this post says it all really!

Saturday morning permitted me a lovely lie in, with my only task for the day being to tidy up ready for when Stu was to come round in the evening. He had been due at 6, but I was very pleased when he called to ask if we could make it 5 instead – so I got a whole extra hour with him, yay! I went to meet him at the tube station and had one of those ‘wow’ moments when I saw him *blush* hehe. We went to Sainsburys so that I could pick up a few bits and pieces and also picked up a fish and chip supper from the local chippy – yum!

I ended up introducing Stu to Millicent and Henry (my giraffe and hippo respectively) and then had a lovely evening being all snuggly and playing PS2 games. I was introduced to the Rayman Raving Rabbids game which I definitely want to get a copy of now hehe! I may order it tonight along with Singstar! Is it bad to have been so geeky that I have looked up the entire history of the game via Wikipedia and am now a bit of a bod on it’s background?? hehe! I really REALLY like the Shake Your Booty! mini game… erk!

This REALLY makes me want a Wii now, as it seems that this game would be fantastic exercise if nothing else hehe! This game was also the launch title for the Wii when it first came out. At the end of the clip you can see the Shake Your Booty! game when “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” kicks in. I know that Stu will probably be the only person who can appreciate just how much I want to be able to play this in real life…. hehe!

The clip below is a compilation of Shake Your Booty! rounds…

Today was much of the same really, we didn’t get up until about 1pm, so had a rather late breakfast and played Simpson’s Road Rage for a few hours (which I continuously beat Stu at *giggles*, though I will concede that he did win once or twice :o P ), Afterwards we watched Little Britain (series  one) until it was time for Stu to head off in the evening.

So yeah, a lovely weekend, though I am missing the stuggles (my new word for Stu huggles) already hehe!

The coming week looks to be a rather quiet one – don’t know if anyone fancies arranging anything??? Easter weekend is also going to very quiet it seems. I think I am going to have to resort to purchasing my own eggs this year as I don’t think anyone else will be buying for me this year :o ( Meh hehe. Still; a quiet weekend certainly beats being at work, and I am thinking of inviting anyone who isn’t going home for Easter over for Easter dinner… I’ll see what kind of responses I get first I guess… :o )

Have a good week and thanks for reading xx
